Getting Public Records
RSA 91-A:4 — inspect during business hours, or an answer within 5 business days
Every citizen has the right, during regular business hours and on the body's premises, to inspect all governmental records in the possession, custody or control of public bodies and agencies, and to copy them, except as a statute or the exemptions section provides.
Who handles this in New Hampshire: legal aid programs, lawyer referral and the state offices, listed in the New Hampshire directory.
5 business days. A body or agency that cannot make a record available at once responds within 5 business days of the request, as the section sets out.
A body that violates the chapter is liable for reasonable attorney's fees and costs where the court finds the lawsuit was necessary to enforce it, among the remedies the section sets.
