Marijuana And Drugs
In Florida, a person may not possess a controlled substance unless it was lawfully obtained from a practitioner or under a valid prescription, or the chapter otherwise authorizes it. Possession in violation is a third degree felony, punishable by up to 5 years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.

Ask for a page
Name the topic or the situation. A person reads every request, and what people ask for decides which Florida pages get written next.
Leave it blank and the request stays anonymous. We do not record your IP either way.
About this guide — education built from the Florida Statutes as the Legislature publishes them, not a law degree in a webpage. Applying it to a particular situation is the work of a licensed Florida attorney or a legal aid office. Current as of September 2026.
This guide covers common situations in real Florida encounters. Not the whole legal code, not a replacement for a lawyer.
