Someone asked
“How long does a landlord in Kentucky have to return a deposit?”
Getting the Deposit Back
The act sets no deadline for the landlord to return a deposit. When the tenant leaves owing no rent with a refund due, the landlord sends notice of the amount to the last known address, and may keep the deposit if no response comes within 60 days. A tenant who leaves without paying the last month's rent and does not ask for the deposit can have it applied to that rent after 30 days.

Ask for a page
Name the topic or the situation. A person reads every request, and what people ask for decides which Kentucky pages get written next.
Leave it blank and the request stays anonymous. We do not record your IP either way.
About this guide — education built from the Kentucky Revised Statutes as the Legislative Research Commission publishes them, not a law degree in a webpage. Applying it to a particular situation is the work of a licensed Kentucky attorney or a legal aid office. Current as of October 2026.
This guide covers common situations in real Kentucky encounters. Not the whole body of law, not a replacement for a lawyer.
