Section 30-12-1 — taking a phone message meant for another without a sender's or recipient's consent
Interference with communications, a misdemeanor, includes knowingly and without lawful authority reading, interrupting, taking or copying any message or communication intended for another, by telegraph or telephone, without the consent of a sender or intended recipient of it, and tapping or connecting to another's telephone line without consent.

It is not an offense when done under a court order, by a carrier's employee in the normal course of the work, or by a person acting under color of law investigating a crime who is a party to the communication or has prior consent from one of the parties.
