- When contacted by a peace officer, which means stopped, detained, questioned or addressed in person for an official purpose, failing to tell the officer immediately about the weapon.
- Failing to let the officer secure it, or to secure it at the officer's direction, for as long as the contact lasts.
- Carrying it concealed into someone else's residence without first getting the express permission of an adult who lives there.
Misconduct involving weapons in the fifth degree is a class B misdemeanor.
A weapon is concealed if it is covered so that someone looking cannot tell it is a weapon without removing or opening what covers it.
Under 21 at home or outdoors. It is a defense to carrying concealed under 21 that the person was in their own dwelling or on their land next to it, or actually hunting, fishing, trapping or doing other lawful outdoor activity that needs a weapon for protection.
The Department of Public Safety issues a permit to carry a concealed handgun to a person who applies in person at an Alaska State Troopers office, qualifies, gives fingerprints, completes a handgun course, and shows a valid Alaska license or ID. A permit holder still may not carry anywhere state or federal law bars a handgun, and doing so is a class B misdemeanor.
