Motorcycle Helmets
AS 28.35.245 — no helmet required at 18 or older with a motorcycle license or endorsement
A person 18 or older who holds a license or endorsement to drive a motorcycle may not be required to wear a helmet.
Who handles this in Alaska: Alaska Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service; and legal aid programs and the state offices, listed in the Alaska directory.
A helmet made or sold in Alaska meets the standards the commissioner of public safety sets by regulation, which allow normal side vision and hearing and keep neck injuries from the helmet to a minimum.
