Voting, Step By Step
A.R.S. 16-120 — registration received before midnight of the twenty-ninth day before the election
The twenty-ninth day. An elector does not vote unless registered as a resident of the election district, with the registration received by the county recorder before midnight of the twenty-ninth day before the election. If that day falls on a weekend or legal holiday, registrations received on the next business day are timely.
Identification, three ways. Before receiving a ballot, the elector presents a valid photo identification bearing a name and address that reasonably match the precinct register; or two different items with that name and address, such as a utility bill, a bank or credit union statement dated within ninety days of the election, a vehicle registration, or a property tax statement; or a photo identification without a matching address together with one of those items.
Absentee and early voting, and what a provisional ballot needs in order to be counted, are set out in other sections that are not on this page. Whether a particular person is registered is a question for the local election office.
