What An Offense Level Means
A.R.S. 13-601 — six classes of felony, three of misdemeanor, and petty offenses not classified
Felonies. Felonies are classified for the purpose of sentence into six categories, class 1 through class 6.
Misdemeanors. Misdemeanors are classified into three categories, class 1 through class 3. Petty offenses are not classified.

A lien. A judgment to pay a fine is a lien in the same way as a money judgment in a civil action.
These fine limits do not apply to an enterprise. Prison and jail ranges for each class are set in other sections, and the class of a particular offense is stated in the section that defines it. How a sentence applies in a particular case is a question for the court, or a licensed Arizona attorney.
