After a Crash
21 Del. C. § 4201 — stop, trade information, help the injured, and call the police for injury or $2,000 in damage
A driver in a collision that damages property stops immediately at the scene, as close as possible without blocking traffic more than necessary, and makes reasonable efforts to learn whether anyone was hurt or killed.
- The driver gives a name, address and the vehicle's registration number, and shows a license, to the owner of the property or the people in the other vehicle.
- Where someone is hurt, the driver also gives reasonable assistance to the injured person.
- The police are called immediately when anyone is injured or killed, when the damage on a public highway looks to be $2,000 or more, or when a driver appears impaired by alcohol or drugs.
