Where Guns Are Barred
11 Del. C. § 1457A — a school, a college, and a polling place on election day, with a license holder's car the exception
Knowingly possessing a firearm or projectile weapon in a Safe School Zone is a class E felony. The zone is any building, athletic field, stadium or property a public or private school owns, operates, leases or rents, and any vehicle it uses the same way.
Knowingly possessing a firearm in a college or university safe zone, the property and vehicles of a public or private college or university, is a class A misdemeanor. Public roads and the paths beside them that run through a campus are not part of the zone.
A license holder's car. A holder of a valid license to carry concealed deadly weapons is outside both sections, but only while the firearm is in a vehicle.
Knowingly possessing a firearm or projectile weapon at a polling place on election day is a class A misdemeanor. Election day runs from 2 hours before the polls open until 2 hours after they close, and the polling place does not include its parking areas.
Federal law and the rules of particular buildings add places of their own. A particular location is a question for a licensed Delaware attorney.
