Housing Discrimination
Fla. Stat. 760.23 — race, color, national origin, sex, disability, familial status and religion
In Florida it is unlawful, because of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, familial status or religion, to:
- Refuse to sell or rent after a good faith offer, refuse to negotiate, or otherwise make a dwelling unavailable.
- Discriminate in the terms, conditions or privileges of a sale or rental, or in services or facilities.
- Publish a notice or advertisement indicating a preference or limitation.
- Falsely say a dwelling is not available.
- Try to get someone to sell or rent, for profit, by claims about people of a particular group moving into the neighborhood.
Familial status protection covers anyone pregnant or in the process of getting legal custody of someone under 18. Disability protection reaches the buyer or renter, anyone who will live there, and anyone associated with them.
