Jury Duty And Your Job
Fla. Stat. 40.271 — no firing for jury service, and punitive damages if it happens
No dismissal. No one summoned or accepted to serve on a grand or petit jury in Florida may be dismissed from employment for any cause because of the nature or length of the service.
An employer's threat of dismissal to someone summoned, because of the service, may be treated as contempt of the court that issued the summons. A person dismissed can sue and recover compensatory and punitive damages and reasonable attorney fees.
