Fla. Stat. 316.212 — prohibited on public roads except where a local government has designated and posted them
Prohibited, except as provided. The State Highway System. Only to cross it at a designated road, or at midblock where a golf course lies on both sides, after the Department of Transportation approves the crossing, or on a state road designated for transfer to a local government where the department finds it safe.
The section's further conditions on age, daylight operation and equipment are not all reproduced here. Low-speed vehicles registered as motor vehicles, all-terrain and utility vehicles, private roads, and the local ordinance itself are outside this page. Whether a particular street is designated, and what the local rules require, are questions for the local government or a licensed Florida attorney.
