- It is a defense that the person may lawfully possess the firearm and it was locked in the trunk, kept in the glove compartment of the locked vehicle, or stored out of plain sight in the locked vehicle.
- Someone allowed to possess a firearm who knowingly, intentionally or recklessly leaves it in plain view in a vehicle parked in a school parking lot commits a Class A misdemeanor.
An employer may not adopt or enforce a policy that prohibits, or has the effect of prohibiting, an employee, a contract employee included, from keeping a firearm or ammunition locked in the trunk, in the glove compartment of the locked vehicle, or out of plain sight in the locked vehicle. The exceptions include child care and child caring facilities, colleges, domestic violence shelters, the employer's own residence, certain chemical and nuclear sites, and electric utilities.
Cities, towns, counties and other political subdivisions may not regulate firearms, ammunition or accessories, or their ownership, possession, carrying, transport, registration, transfer, storage, sale or taxation, except as the chapter itself allows.
