Invasion of Privacy

Iowa Code § 709.21 — viewing or filming a person undressed without consent is an aggravated misdemeanor

A person who knowingly views, photographs or films another person, for the sexual gratification of anyone, commits invasion of privacy when the other person does not or cannot consent, is fully or partly nude, and has a reasonable expectation of privacy while nude.

  • Full or partial nudity means showing any part of the genitals, pubic area or buttocks, or any part of the nipple of a female breast, with less than fully opaque covering.
  • Photographs or films takes in any photograph, film, videotape, recording or transmission of the person's image.

Invasion of privacy is an aggravated misdemeanor.
