Motorcycle Helmets and Eye Protection
K.S.A. 8-1598 — a helmet under 18, and eye protection for every operator without a windscreen
No one under 18 may operate or ride on a motorcycle or motorized bicycle without a helmet that meets federal guidelines, and no one may let someone under 18 do so.
Who handles this in Kansas: Johnson County Bar Association, Find a Lawyer; and legal aid programs and the state offices, listed in the Kansas directory.
Every motorcycle operator wears shatterproof glasses, goggles or a face shield, unless the motorcycle has a windscreen at least 10 inches high, and so does any passenger under 18. The rules do not cover enclosed cabs, autocycles or golf carts.
