Minimum Wage
La. R.S. 23:642 — parishes and cities may not set a minimum wage or required sick leave for private employers
No local minimum wage. No local governmental subdivision may set a minimum wage rate that a private employer must pay, or a mandatory minimum number of vacation or sick leave days, paid or unpaid.
Louisiana's statutes set no general minimum wage, so the federal minimum applies to employers it covers. A particular wage question is one for a licensed Louisiana attorney or the federal Department of Labor.
