Signals and Turns
La. R.S. 32:104 — a turn signal runs continuously for the last 100 feet before the turn
No one turns at an intersection, into a driveway, or out of a direct course unless the move can be made with reasonable safety. A driver turning off the road signals continuously for not less than the last 100 feet before the turn.
- A driver signals before stopping or suddenly slowing whenever there is a chance to warn the driver behind.
- Turn signals show an intent to turn, change lanes or pull out from parking.
- They are not flashed on one side of a parked car, or as a courtesy signal telling the driver behind to pass.
- A signal may be given by hand and arm, or by signal lamps, which are required where a hand signal could not be seen.
