Where You May Not Park
La. R.S. 32:143 — not within 15 feet of a hydrant, 20 feet of a crosswalk, or 50 feet of a railroad crossing
- On a sidewalk, on a crosswalk, within an intersection, or in front of a driveway.
- Within 15 feet of a fire hydrant.
- Within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection, or of a stop sign, beacon or signal at the side of the road.
- Within 50 feet of the nearest rail of a railroad crossing.
- Within 20 feet of a fire station driveway, or across from one within 75 feet when posted.
- On a bridge or in a highway tunnel, double parked, or anywhere signs forbid it.
The rule covers standing or parking, not a stop needed to avoid other traffic or ordered by an officer or a traffic sign.
