Traffic Lights and Right on Red
29-A M.R.S. § 2057 — a right turn on red after a full stop, unless a sign says no
- A driver obeys a traffic control device unless a law enforcement officer directs otherwise.
- On a green light a driver may go straight or turn unless a sign forbids the turn, and still yields to vehicles and pedestrians lawfully in the intersection or crosswalk.
- A steady yellow warns that the green is ending or a red is coming at once. A flashing yellow means proceed only with caution.
- A steady red means stop and stay stopped. A flashing red means stop, then go as at a stop sign. A red arrow means no entering the intersection for that movement.

Right on red. After stopping at a steady red, a driver may carefully turn right unless a sign such as NO RIGHT TURN ON RED forbids it, yielding to pedestrians in the crosswalk and to vehicles with a green signal.
