The Pay Stub

Lab. & Empl. § 3-504 — a written pay statement every pay period, and a pay period's notice before a change

In Maryland, an employer gives each employee, for each pay period, a written statement on the physical pay stub or the online pay statement.

At hiring, and before a change. At hiring the employer gives written notice of the rate of pay, the regular paydays and leave benefits, and gives notice of any change in a payday or wage at least 1 pay period in advance. A raise may be given without advance notice.

Payday frequency, wage claims and deductions an employer may take are not on this page. Whether a particular statement complies is a question for the state's labor department or a licensed Maryland attorney.
