Gen. Prov. § 1-401 — the age of majority is 18, and support continues for a high school student

At 18. The age of majority is 18 years. Except as the section or another statute specifically provides, an individual at least 18 is an adult for all purposes, with the capacity, rights and responsibilities a 21-year-old had before July 1, 1973.

Support in secondary school. An individual who is 18 and enrolled in secondary school has the right to support from both parents until the first of: death, marriage, emancipation, graduating or leaving secondary school, or reaching 19 years.

Ages set for specific purposes elsewhere, such as buying alcohol or tobacco and some licenses and permits, are not on this page. How a particular age rule applies to a particular person is a question for a licensed Maryland attorney.
