Driving While Suspended
G.L. c. 90, § 23 — five hundred to one thousand dollars, or up to ten days, for a first offense
In Massachusetts, operating a motor vehicle after one's license or right to operate was suspended or revoked, and before it is restored, is punished for a first offense by a fine of not less than five hundred nor more than one thousand dollars, up to ten days in jail, or both.
A later offense means jail. A subsequent offense is punished by not less than sixty days nor more than one year. The same penalties apply to showing an officer someone else's license to conceal one's identity.
