What is not fireworks. The definition leaves out wire or wood sparklers of not more than 100 grams of mixture per item, other sparkling items that are nonexplosive and nonaerial with 75 grams or less of mixture per tube or 500 grams or less for multiple tubes, snakes and glow worms, smoke devices, and trick noisemakers.

Not on public property, and not for under 18. Those items may not be used on public property. The section does not authorize their purchase by anyone younger than 18, and a purchaser's age must be verified by photographic identification.

Whether a particular device or a particular night is allowed where someone lives is a question for the local fire authority or a licensed Minnesota attorney.
