Giving Police A False Name

Minn. Stat. 609.506 — a false name, birth date or ID to an officer is a misdemeanor, another person's name a gross misdemeanor

A misdemeanor. Giving a peace officer a fictitious name other than a nickname, a false date of birth, or a false or altered identification card, with intent to obstruct justice, during inquiries incident to a lawful investigatory stop, a lawful arrest or another duty the law imposes, is a misdemeanor.

Another person's name. Giving the name and date of birth of another person in the same circumstances is a gross misdemeanor. The same rules apply to statements to a court official in a criminal proceeding.

The section punishes a false answer given to obstruct justice. It does not itself require anyone to answer.
