Assault
Mo. Rev. Stat. § 565.054 and § 565.056 — third degree a felony, fourth degree usually a class A misdemeanor
Third degree: a class E felony. Knowingly causing physical injury to another person is assault in the third degree in Missouri, a class E felony, or class D if the victim is a special victim as the law defines it.
- Attempting to cause, or recklessly causing, physical injury, pain or illness.
- Causing physical injury with a firearm through criminal negligence.
- Purposely placing someone in apprehension of immediate physical injury.
- Recklessly creating a substantial risk of death or serious physical injury.
- Knowingly causing physical contact the other person will regard as offensive or provocative.
Those are assault in the fourth degree, a class A misdemeanor, except that placing someone in apprehension of injury and offensive contact are class C misdemeanors unless the victim is a special victim.
