Mo. Rev. Stat. § 137.385 — a written appeal to the county board of equalization before the second Monday in July

The deadline. Any person aggrieved by the assessment of their property may appeal to the county board of equalization. The appeal is in writing on forms the county clerk furnishes, and is lodged with the county clerk, as secretary of the board, before the second Monday in July.

An extension. The board may in its discretion extend the time for filing appeals.

What happens after the first level of review, and the exemptions that change what is owed, are set out in other sections that are not on this page. Whether a particular assessment can be lowered is a question for a licensed Missouri attorney or appraiser.
