Voting, Step By Step
Mo. Rev. Stat. § 115.135 — registered by 5:00 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday prior to the election
The fourth Wednesday. To vote in an election, a person registers no later than 5:00 p.m., or the normal closing time of the building if later, on the fourth Wednesday prior to the election, with exceptions for certain former residents, new residents, and military and overseas voters. Anyone registering after that may vote in later elections.
Photo identification. Voters establish identity at the polling place with a nonexpired Missouri driver's license, a nonexpired or nonexpiring nondriver's license, a photo document issued by the United States or Missouri that meets the section's conditions, or a military or veterans photo identification as the section describes.
Without it. An otherwise qualified voter without one of those forms is allowed to cast a provisional ballot, after completing the provisional ballot affidavit.
Absentee and early voting, and what a provisional ballot needs in order to be counted, are set out in other sections that are not on this page. Whether a particular person is registered is a question for the local election office.
