Child Support
NRS 125B.080 — the state's guidelines in every case, and a review at least every 3 years on request
A Nevada court applies the guidelines set by the Administrator of the Division of Social Services of the Department of Human Services to decide the support required in any case involving children, and to change it.
Who handles this in Nevada: legal aid programs, lawyer referral and the state offices, listed in the Nevada directory.
Every 3 years, on request. On a request from a parent or legal guardian, or from the Division of Social Services or the district attorney where they have the case, the court reviews a support order at least every 3 years to decide whether it should be modified or adjusted, and where that is appropriate in the child's best interests it modifies the order under the guidelines.
For the enforcement sections of the chapter, a minor child is someone under the age of 18 years, under the age of 19 years if enrolled in high school, or under a legal disability.
The guidelines are adopted as regulations rather than written into the statute. How they apply to a particular household are questions for a licensed Nevada attorney.
