Helping At The Scene
N.J.S.A. 2A:62A-1 — any individual, in good faith, at the scene or on the way
In New Jersey, any individual, including a licensed health professional or a volunteer first aid or rescue squad member, who in good faith renders emergency care at the scene of an accident or emergency, or while transporting the victim to a hospital or other place of treatment, is not liable for any civil damages from acts or omissions in rendering that care.
The protection is from civil liability, a lawsuit for damages, and the section sets its own limits on who and what it covers. Whether it applies to a particular act is a question for a court and for a licensed New Jersey attorney.
