Jury Duty And Your Job
Jud. Law § 519 — no firing or penalty for jury service, and a larger employer pays the first $72 a day for three days
Notice before the term. A person summoned as a juror who tells the employer before the term of service begins may not be fired or penalized for the absence that jury service takes.
$72 a day for three days. An employer may withhold wages during jury service, but an employer of more than ten employees may not withhold the first $72 of the juror's daily wages for the first three days of service. Withholding wages as the section allows is not a penalty.
