Where Guns Are Barred
ORS 166.370 — public buildings and courts, and what a concealed handgun license changes
Intentionally possessing a firearm or dangerous weapon in or on a public building is a Class C felony, and so is a firearm in a court facility.
A license holder is generally exempt. A person licensed to carry a concealed handgun has a defense in a public building, except in the Capitol, a large airport's passenger terminal, or a building or school grounds under a no-firearms policy, where a license holder's possession is a Class A misdemeanor instead.
Other defenses include an unloaded firearm locked in a vehicle on school property, a firearm unloaded in a locked hard-sided case for checked baggage at an airport, and permission from whoever controls the building.
