Who Has To Report It
ORS 419B.010 — any public or private official, immediately, a Class A violation for failing
Immediately. A public or private official with reasonable cause to believe that a child they come in contact with has been abused, or that a person they come in contact with has abused a child, reports it immediately.
The duty is personal to the official, whatever an employer's internal policies say. Failing to report is a Class A violation, prosecuted within 18 months.
Privileged communications to a psychiatrist, psychologist, member of the clergy or attorney are not covered, and an official who reasonably believes the authorities already know need not report again.
