Grandparent Visitation
R.I. Gen. Laws § 15-5-24.1 — a grandparent whose own child has died may petition for reasonable visitation
A grandparent whose child has died may petition the family court, and the court may grant reasonable visitation with the grandchildren, whether or not any divorce or custody case was ever started.
The court may issue the orders needed to enforce the visitation it grants.
Other sections cover a grandparent whose child is alive but denied or not using visitation. A particular family is a question for a licensed Rhode Island attorney.
