S.C. Code 63-5-40 and S.C. Code 41-1-130 — anywhere mother and child may be, and reasonable break time at work

Anywhere she may be. A woman may breastfeed her child in any location where she and the child are authorized to be, and doing so is not indecent exposure.

An employer with one or more employees provides reasonable unpaid break time, or lets the employee use paid break or meal time, each day to express breast milk, and makes reasonable efforts to provide a private place near the work area other than a toilet stall.

An employer may not discriminate against an employee for expressing milk at work, need not build a room for it, and is excused where it would be an undue hardship. Complaints follow the Human Affairs Commission's procedure.
