Reckless Driving
Transp. Code 545.401 — wilful or wanton disregard for safety, up to $200 and 30 days
Wilful or wanton disregard. A person commits reckless driving in Texas by driving a vehicle in wilful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property. It is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine up to $200, up to 30 days in county jail, or both.
The offense reaches beyond public roads: it applies on a highway or other public place, and in a private access way or parking area a business provides for its customers, other than private residential property or a pay garage or lot.
