9 V.S.A. § 4503 — no refusal to rent because of children, public assistance, or being a victim of abuse, among the listed traits
No one may refuse to rent or sell, set different terms, or advertise a preference because of race, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, marital status, religious creed, color, national origin, citizenship, immigration status or disability, or because a person will live with minor children, receives public assistance, or is a victim of abuse, sexual assault or stalking.
- A person harmed may file a charge with the Human Rights Commission, or sue in Superior Court for an injunction and compensatory and punitive damages.
- Retaliating against someone who opposed a violation or took part in an investigation is barred.
- The suit is due within six years after the cause of action accrues.
