Receiving Stolen Property
13 V.S.A. § 2561 — punished the same as stealing the property
- Buying, receiving, selling, possessing or helping conceal property known to be stolen is punished the same as stealing it, unless it is held to return to the owner.
- A dealer in property is guilty when the dealer knows or believes the property was stolen.
- It can be prosecuted where the theft could have been, even if the property was received in another county.
Stealing property worth more than $900 carries up to 10 years and $5,000. At $900 or less it carries up to one year and $1,000.
