Turning Eighteen
Va. Code 1-204 — an adult, of full age, at 18, for all laws unless an exception is specific
For all laws. For all the laws of the Commonwealth, including common law and case law, a person is an adult, of full age, and reaches the age of majority at 18 years of age, unless the Code specifically provides an exception.
Ages set for specific purposes elsewhere, such as buying alcohol or tobacco and some licenses and permits, are not on this page. How a particular age rule applies to a particular person is a question for a licensed Virginia attorney.
