A Sale at the Door
Ala. Code § 5-19-12 — until midnight of the third business day to cancel, or a year without the notice
A buyer may cancel a home solicitation sale until midnight of the third business day after signing, by delivering or mailing notice to the seller. The notice takes effect when delivered or mailed.
Who handles this in Alabama: Alabama Attorney General, Consumer Interest Division and Alabama Public Service Commission, Consumer Services; and legal aid programs, lawyer referral and the state offices, listed in the Alabama directory.
Without the notice of the right to cancel. The seller gives the buyer a signed agreement with a conspicuous notice of the right to cancel. Until the seller does, the buyer may cancel within one year after the sale, in any manner.
- Within 10 days after a cancellation, the seller returns any payments, goods traded in or their stated value, and any note.
- The buyer takes reasonable care of the goods and returns them at home on demand.
- If the seller does not ask for the goods within 20 days after the notice, they become the buyer's without paying for them.
