A Sale at the Door
AS 45.02.350 — five business days to revoke a sale of $10 or more, and the seller pays the return
A contract for $10 or more from someone selling door to door does not take effect unless the buyer may revoke it within five business days, and the seller gives the buyer written notice of that right at the time of the sale.
Who handles this in Alaska: Alaska Department of Law, Consumer Protection Unit; and legal aid programs, lawyer referral and the state offices, listed in the Alaska directory.
The seller bears the cost of returning rejected goods.
What counts. A door to door sale is one the seller personally solicits and the buyer agrees to somewhere other than the seller's place of business. It does not include a deal negotiated during a visit to a store, an emergency the buyer called about, or a sale made entirely by mail.
