Meetings About Politics or Religion at Work
AS 23.10.450 — no punishment for skipping an employer's meeting on religious or political opinion
An employer may not take or threaten adverse action against an employee for refusing to attend an employer sponsored meeting, or listen to communications, whose main purpose is the employer's opinion on religious or political matters.
Who handles this in Alaska: legal aid programs, lawyer referral and the state offices, listed in the Alaska directory.
An employer who does is liable for the wages the employee lost by not taking part, or because of the adverse action. The law does not stop an employer from passing on information the law requires it to share.
