Passing A School Bus
A.R.S. 28-857 — stop for the stop sign and flashing lights, and a civil penalty of at least $250
In Arizona, a driver meeting or overtaking from either direction a school bus stopped on the highway stops before reaching it when the bus is showing its stop signal with flashing lights, and does not go on until the bus moves or the signal and lights are off.
- A driver on a highway with separate roadways need not stop for a bus on a different roadway, or for a bus in a loading zone beside a controlled access highway where pedestrians may not cross.
- A two-way left turn lane does not make the lanes on either side of it separate roadways.
