A.R.S. 28-663 — stop, remain, give a name and address, and render reasonable assistance

A driver in an accident on public or private property that injures or kills a person, or damages a vehicle driven or attended by a person, stops immediately at the scene or as close to it as possible, returns to it at once, and remains until the driver has done three things:

  • Given the driver's name and address and the registration number of the vehicle.
  • On request, exhibited the driver license to the person struck or to the driver, occupants or attendant of the other vehicle.
  • Rendered reasonable assistance to anyone injured, including arranging transport for treatment when it is apparent that treatment is necessary or when the injured person asks.

A driver who strikes an unattended vehicle stops immediately and either finds and tells its operator or owner the driver's and owner's name and address, or leaves a written notice with them in a conspicuous place in the vehicle. A violation is a class 1 misdemeanor.
