The Tint On Your Windows

A.R.S. 28-959.01 — thirty-three percent on the front side windows, and the rear with mirrors on both sides

In Arizona, no object or material may be placed on the windshield or side or rear windows in a way that obstructs or reduces the driver's clear view, and no transparent material that alters the color or reduces the light transmittance may be applied, except as the section allows.

A medical exemption. On application supported by a licensed physician's written attestation that a person must be shielded from the sun for medical reasons, the department may issue an exemption for that person's vehicle or one in which they are a habitual passenger.

Sellers. A person who sells or installs tint must state conspicuously that installing it on the driver or passenger side window may be illegal in some states.

Stickers, signs and safety monitoring equipment on the windshield are not all on this page. Whether a particular film passes, and how a reading was taken, are questions for a licensed Arizona attorney.
