An Interpreter In Court
Idaho Code § 9-205 — a qualified interpreter for a party or witness who does not speak English or cannot hear, paid by the court
The court appoints one. In any civil or criminal case where a party or witness does not understand or speak English, or has a disability that keeps them from fully hearing or speaking it, the court appoints a qualified interpreter.
The interpreter is sworn to interpret the testimony accurately and fully to the best of their ability before starting.
The court sets a reasonable fee for the interpreter, paid out of the district court fund, and may subpoena the interpreter like a witness.
