Who May Vote
10 ILCS 5/3-1 — a citizen of 18 or more who has lived in the district 30 days before the election
Every person who is a citizen of the United States, 18 or older, and has lived in Illinois and in the election district for 30 days before an election is entitled to vote in it for all offices and on all propositions.
Who handles this in Illinois: legal aid programs, lawyer referral and the state offices, listed in the Illinois directory.
- A registered voter who moved to another district in Illinois within those 30 days may still vote by making the affidavit the Election Code provides.
- So may a voter whose address changed only because of a 9-1-1 system, after making the affidavit.
- A military establishment within Illinois counts as in the State.
