Canceling a Sale Made at Home
IC 24-5-10-8 — written notice before midnight of the third business day cancels it
A consumer may cancel a home consumer transaction with a cash price of at least $25 by written notice, in any words that express the intent to cancel, delivered or mailed before midnight of the third business day after the later of receiving the seller's notice of the right to cancel or the final agreement.
Who handles this in Indiana: Indiana Attorney General, Consumer Protection Division; and legal aid programs and the state offices, listed in the Indiana directory.
The seller gives the consumer two copies of a written notice of the right to cancel, on a separate page in at least ten point boldface type, stating where to send the cancellation, the deadline, and the steps each side takes after it.
Where the seller never gave the notice, the cancellation may go to the seller's last address known to the consumer.
