Voting After a Conviction
IC 3-7-13-5 — the right to register returns on release from imprisonment and detention
A person convicted of a crime and imprisoned after the conviction is deprived of the right to vote, and may not register while imprisoned or otherwise in lawful detention.
Who handles this in Indiana: legal aid programs and the state offices, listed in the Indiana directory.
A person otherwise qualified may register again once no longer imprisoned or in lawful detention. Nothing in the section waits for probation or parole to end.
