A Temporary Restricted License
Iowa Code § 321J.20 — driving during an OWI revocation, with an ignition interlock on every vehicle
- The department may issue a temporary restricted license to a person whose license is revoked under the OWI chapter, allowing driving as a class C license allows.
- It is not issued until an approved ignition interlock device is installed on every vehicle the person drives.
- It is not available to a driver under eighteen revoked under the under twenty-one section, or to someone suspended for another reason.
Driving while a license is suspended, denied, revoked or barred for an OWI chapter violation is a serious misdemeanor with a $1,000 fine, and the revocation is extended for a like period.
